All the time in the world
So much has changed for me in the last month, I’ve moved house and I feel like I’m starting again in so many ways.
I have kept a diary for the last 3 or four years, I don’t write everyday just when I feel I need/want to. I’ve just finished the most recent diary that I started last September. In a way I feel like I’m drawing a line under this crappy year in which I have lost so much. I wish none of the bad things had happened this year, but I take comfort that if nothing else I’m a stronger person now.
I hope that my next diary will be full of love laughter and happiness and that the inevitable bad things will be few and far between.
I’ve been taking some time away from things, and even my 365 photo project has lapsed, but I hope soon, definitely in the new year things should be back to normal hours
Keep crafting everyone!
Halloween
Well it’s nearly Halloween, and we’ve been decorating the house with pumpkins and bats. I hope you’re enjoying the beautiful colours of the leaves as much as I am. I’m liking the brighter mornings now the clocks have gone back, but the dark nights are not so great :-/
This week I’ve been preparing for a Christmas Craft Party that I’m doing in November. Lots of glitter, felt and tartan around here. I’m making Christmas stockings, wreaths and decorations.
The move last Friday went well and I’m now settled into a new office, it was good to sort through my fabrics and have a clear out. I’m hoping normal posting will resume now, and I might have a chance to get some tutorials up soon!
Hope you all have a Happy Crafty Halloween!

Change
There’s some big changes happening in my life right now and I’m still processing everything that’s happening.
I will hopefully be releasing my first pdf patterns for sale very soon. As soon as they are ready they’ll be listed on my shop page and available for instant download.
I’m going to be moving my desk and supplies, so unfortunately that’s going to throw me off a little bit, but I’m hoping it won’t be too long till I’m back in the swing of things.
Scrappy Selvedge Bracelet Tutorial
This tutorial is great for using up those pretty selvedges that you just can’t bear to throw away, wear them on your wrists instead and be happy all day. This tutorial was made for the Scrap Busters Contest over on Sew, Mama, Sew!
You will need:
Scrappy selvedges or thin scraps of fabric.
Ribbon.
———
Trim your selvedge strips so that you’ve got three long strips about 5 3/4″ or 12cm long, and some short strips for the end.
Using a ziz-zag stitch on your machine, sew the three long strips together to make the main part of your bracelet.
Lay the shorted strips over the raw ends of your bracelet and trim to length. Sew these on also with a zig-zag stitch.
Cut two lengths of ribbon long enough to tie in a bow when attached to your bracelet, and sew them on behind the selvedges.
If you would like, sew on buttons each end through the selvedge and ribbon ends.
Now you can wear your selvedges with pride!
Super quick, super fun, super cute
Postcrossing
I found post crossing a couple of weeks ago, signed up and sent my first postcard, unsure of what to expect. My first card got to the states in about a week and soon after I received a postcard from Amsterdam.
It’s a lovely black and white card that looks like a paper cut out.
If you’ve not heard of Postcrossing before and you like to send and receive postcards then check out the website.
October
If you’re like me, this year seems to have just flown by, I can’t believe it’s October already!
There’s lots of things to look forward to though, Halloween for one, I’m throwing a party this year and I’m making my costume. I’ll try and blog about it as soon as I get started.
I’m really enjoying the crispness in the air right now, although we’ve had some lovely warm sunny days lately, so I’ve been making the most of still being able to wear my summer shoes.
I had to share this perfect Dandelion clock with you.
Happy October everyone
Honey Oatmeal Bars
I’ve been wanting to make these for a while now, and yesterday I finally did. This is such an easy thing to make and you can pretty much make any substitutions you like so long as you get a mixture that holds together at the end. The coarse oatmeal gives the bars a chewy crunchy texture, but you can substitute for rolled oats if you wish. If you like raisins or other dried fruit, add them to the dry mixture, you can also use coconut instead of ground almonds.
Honey Oatmeal Bars
I cup Oatmeal
1/2 cup Self Raising Flour
1/2 cup Ground Almonds
1/4 cup Caster Sugar
2-3 heaped tbsp Honey
2 heaped tbsp Butter
A pinch of Ground Ginger
Preheat the oven to 180 C/350 F. Melt the honey and butter in a pan over a low heat, combine the dry ingredients in a bowl. Mix the melted butter and honey into the dry ingredients, your mixture should stick together but can be slightly crumbly.
Turn out onto a greased baking tray and flatten into a rectangle shape as thick as you want. Bake for around 10-15 mins, until golden brown.
Cut into bars whilst still warm.
Enjoy!
Warning, these are pretty addictive, I ate three whilst writing this
Wax Dipped Autumn Leaves
I promised I would show you the beautiful wax covered autumn leaves that I made last week, and here they are.
I didn’t have any beeswax so I just melted two old candles in a bowl over a simmering pan of water. I dipped the leaves in the wax, shook of the excess and then laid them on some newspaper to dry.
They are so pretty and shiny, I’m very pleased with them.
Can you spot the cat in this one?
I’m busy typing up pattern instructions, so it might be a bit quite around here for a while.
Keep crafting
